I’ve decided to transfer the Yamaha SR250 swingarm I bought for the Benelli over to the Montesa frame I recently purchased. The SR swingarm would need some significant re-work to fit the Benelli, and fits the Montesa quite nicely as is. The other swingarm I was considering, from an SRX250, is much too long for the Benelli frame, still too wide at the pivot, and too modern looking. Rather than wrestle with adapting yet another random swingarm to the Benelli frame, I decided to simply purchase a stock one off Ebay for a grand total of $35 — in this case, it’s from the same vendor as my frame and almost assuredly the specific piece it originally had when it left Pesaro. I’ve resisted this path because I’d already reamed out the swingarm holes in the frame to match the larger diameter Yamaha swingarm pivot shaft, but whipping up a couple of stepped collars on the lathe is a heck of a lot easier than cutting and re-welding a swingarm to fit.
