I’ll be retiring by the end of the year, and while toying with ideas for a part-time hustle after I retire, I began looking at various street vending setups. That rabbit hole led me to something I’m genuinely excited about: I want to build a triporteur — a reverse trike with front-mounted cargo space.
Peugeot first introduced this cargo trike in 1938, but production didn’t really take off until after World War II. The engine was initially 98cc, then enlarged to 125cc in 1949. They proved very popular with vendors in France; over its 20-year production run more than 28,000 were built.

Totally aside of any usefulness for a side business, it’s something cool and different enough from my existing bikes that has me jazzed about another build. I would, of course, use the Peugeot simply as a source of inspiration and create something similar with newer, cheaper, and more easily acquired components. The more I think about it, the more it intrigues me.
