Here’s a card stock template of a shock mount I was thinking of making out of 11 gauge sheet steel and welding to the frame backbone tubes. But I realized that that would leave me stuck with a front shock mounting point that couldn’t be altered very easily. So now I am thinking I should weld some threaded bungs into the frame that I can then bolt a removable bracket to. That’s probably something I’ll have to leave to a commercial welder. Welding on my frame with my little 110V welder is not something I’m comfortable with. My tank has a 2 5/8″ tunnel, and my frame backbone is only 1.5″ diameter tube, so I have plenty of room in between them to fit bolt-on bracket. I could even make them out of 1/4″ alloy if I wanted.
