I finished cutting out and smoothing the shock mounting plates. I also gave myself the option of attaching a head stay to this later on, if needed. Here it is clamped to the frame approximately where it will go.
Bung tubes will be welded through the frame. I think I can safely weld them in place myself; using one-piece bungs captured between plates, the assembly would still remain in place should a weld break.
